Raúl González Vicente & Jose Antonio Beltrán Márquez - Java Dark Threads

25 de mayo de 2026Desarrollo de softwaretech meetuptech

“Java Dark Threads” explores the hidden forces shaping concurrency in modern JVM systems, much like dark matter shaping the universe. Virtual Threads promise to illuminate long-standing complexity, but real adoption demands understanding what lies beneath. This session examines their behavior in high-concurrency and I/O-intensive workloads, their impact on the Java Memory Model and scheduling, and how they differ from reactive or thread-pool models. We will assess ecosystem readiness across Reactor/Netty, Kafka, Spring Boot 3.x, Undertow, and Tomcat, highlighting where invisible blocking or contention can distort performance. Attendees will learn practical patterns, anti-patterns, and migration strategies to bring clarity to these “dark” areas and decide when Virtual Threads truly add value in production architectures.
